The Harvard University Center for the Environment has launched the Environmental Fellowship Program to enable recent doctorate recipients to leverage Harvard’s extraordinary resources in tackling complex environmental problems. This program offers postdoctoral research opportunities for fellows who will work for two years alongside Harvard faculty members across various schools or departments.
As part of the fellowship, participants will engage in interdisciplinary research and strengthen connections within the University’s diverse academic disciplines, enhancing their capacity to address issues related to sustainability and climate change.

Requirements/Eligibility Criteria
Candidates for the 2025 Environmental Fellows Program should have received their terminal degree between May 2021 and August 2025. (Fellows must have filed their dissertation before starting their appointment in September 2025.) Eligible candidates may hold a doctorate in any field and can propose research projects that intersect with environmental studies. Applicants without a Ph.D. may also apply if they have studied in fields where the Ph.D. is not the typical terminal degree, provided they can demonstrate experience performing scholarly research. Doctoral degree holders from any university worldwide are encouraged to apply. Foreign nationals are eligible for fellowships, although proficiency in English is required for study at Harvard.
