Twas-Unesco Associateship Scheme Program 2025 For Researchers From Developing Countries

Applications are now open for the 2025 TWAS-UNESCO Associateship Scheme, a prestigious program designed to foster research collaboration among competent researchers from developing countries. In collaboration with UNESCO and several centres of excellence in the Global South, TWAS has instituted this Joint Associateship Scheme to enable scientists to visit these centres regularly. Each associate is appointed for three years, during which they can visit a host centre twice for research collaboration and capacity-building opportunities. Nearly 300 centres have been selected to participate in the scheme, providing a platform for international scientific collaboration.

Requirements/Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent degree. The selection of associates is highly competitive; appointments are made on the basis of merit, with special consideration given to women scientists and those from isolated institutions in developing countries.
  • Appointments have a fixed duration of three years. During this time, the associate is entitled to visit the host centre twice, for a period of 2 to 3 months each time, enhancing their research capabilities. Subject to the availability of funds, the appointment may be renewed for a further three-year term.
