US Embassy Education Grants for Nigerians, 2025

The Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, is excited to announce an open competition for organizations to submit applications to manage projects aimed at promoting U.S. higher education opportunities for high-achieving, low-income Nigerian students. This initiative is specifically designed to assist students applying for graduate and undergraduate programs through the EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program. By partnering with Standard Advising Centers in key Nigerian cities such as Calabar, Jos, Ibadan, and Kano, the program seeks to empower talented students with the resources necessary to succeed in applying to U.S. universities.

This education grants program is crucial in providing financial aid to Nigerian students by covering costs such as standardized test feesvisa feesSEVIS feesapplication fees, airfare, and settling-in expenses. Eligibility Requirements

To apply, eligible organizations must:

  1. Be a not-for-profit entity, including civil society organizations, think tanks, public and private educational institutions, or public international organizations.
  2. Have the capability to manage and execute projects in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy to help guide students through the application process and financial support for studying in the U.S.
  3. Assist in the promotion of EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program, focusing on low-income students.
  4. Work with Standard Advising Centers located in Calabar, Jos, Ibadan, and Kano to ensure effective outreach.

For Students: The program is open to Nigerian students pursuing higher education in the U.S., and the primary focus will be on those who demonstrate strong academic potential and a need for financial assistance.
