The International Media Studies Master’s Degree program, launched in 2009, is a prestigious and interdisciplinary academic initiative designed to prepare students for leadership roles in the media and communications industries. This program brings together a diverse group of students from around the world to study media management, communication science, journalism, and media and development. Each year, up to 30 students are selected to join the program, which combines research, practical experience, and lectures to provide an exceptional education in international media studies.
Program Structure and Curriculum
The Master’s in Media Management offers a four-semester, full-time program, blending theoretical knowledge with practical experience. The curriculum is designed to address critical issues in media development, communication, and journalism, and is aligned with the demands of the rapidly evolving media sector. Students will gain a deep understanding of the role of media in global development, learning how to manage media organizations, create impactful content, and drive positive change within the industry. The program emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of the media landscape and prepares students to address global communication challenges.
As part of their studies, students will participate in internship opportunities in their home countries during the fourth semester. This practical component provides invaluable hands-on experience, allowing students from developing countries to engage in real-world applications of their learning while making tangible contributions to the media landscape of their communities.
Global Networking and Career Development
Since its establishment, the program has successfully graduated over 290 students from 74 countries, many of whom have gone on to excel in international media careers. The program offers extensive networking opportunities, both within the academic environment and through partnerships with global media organizations. Graduates are part of a growing community of media professionals who are making a significant impact across the globe.
The International Media Studies program also offers scholarships for highly qualified candidates from developing and emerging countries, making it more accessible for students with financial constraints.
