african mobility fellowship

The PAGES African Mobility Fellowship 2025 provides a unique opportunity for early-career researchers based in Africa to engage in collaborative research and knowledge exchange within the field of paleoscience. This fellowship is specifically designed to enhance the capacity of young African researchers by facilitating short-term research exchanges in African institutions. Through this research program, successful applicants will gain invaluable exposure to advanced scientific practices and methodologies, benefiting from direct interaction with established experts and peers in their field.

Paleoscience—the study of past climates and environments using proxies such as ice cores, tree rings, and sediment cores—is a critical area of research for understanding the Earth’s history and predicting future environmental changes. As climate change becomes an increasingly urgent issue, the need for informed, evidence-based research in this area has never been more important. The PAGES African Mobility Fellowship encourages the next generation of African scientists to contribute to this essential field of study.

This fellowship provides financial support to cover travel, accommodation, and living expenses, making it possible for African researchers to spend up to four weeks at leading research institutions on the continent. By supporting these research exchanges, the program aims to build stronger academic networks, foster collaborative projects, and enhance the quality of paleoscientific research in Africa.

PAGES works to facilitate global cooperation among scientists in order to improve our understanding of Earth’s climate system and its impact on ecosystems, human societies, and the environment.

The PAGES African Mobility Fellowship 2025 represents an exceptional opportunity for early-career scientists in Africa to advance their research in paleoscience, contribute to the understanding of past climates, and foster collaboration with leading researchers across the continent. By supporting short-term research exchanges, the fellowship aims to strengthen the scientific capacity of African researchers and build a robust network of professionals dedicated to tackling global environmental challenges.

Successful fellows will not only gain valuable research experience but also enhance their professional development through mentorship, exposure to cutting-edge research, and the chance to present their findings at key scientific forums.
