The Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan have officially announced the opening of applications for the 2026 Agriculture Student Scholarship, designed to recognize and support the next generation of agricultural leaders. This initiative aims to encourage young students to explore innovative ideas and sustainable practices that can shape the future of the agriculture industry.
The Agriculture Student Scholarship is a yearly initiative jointly funded by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the Government of Saskatchewan under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP). This five (05) year program (2023–2028), with an investment of $3.5 billion, focuses on enhancing the competitiveness, innovation, and resilience of Canada’s agriculture and agri-food sectors. It includes $1 billion in federal programs and a $2.5 billion cost-shared investment between federal and provincial governments.
This year’s scholarship theme encourages students to explore and present innovative solutions to challenges in the agriculture sector. Applicants are invited to discuss topics such as:
Use of advanced technologies (e.g., AI, automation, precision agriculture)
Enhancing food security and supply chain resilience
Improving soil health and water management
Innovative ideas for promoting youth involvement in agriculture
Participants can choose between a 3-minute creative video or a 1,000-word essay to showcase their vision for a stronger and more sustainable agricultural future in Saskatchewan.
To be eligible for the Agri Scholarship 2026, applicants must: 1. Be a student residing in Saskatchewan, Canada 2. Be planning to attend a post-secondary institution in an agriculture-related program in the 2026–2027 academic year 3. Submit a creative 3-minute video or a 1,000-word essay presenting innovative solutions to current agricultural challenges 4. Clearly align with the scholarship theme: sustainable agriculture, innovation, youth in agri-food, and related topics 5. Demonstrate a strong passion for improving Canada’s agriculture and food systems 6. Be available to participate in potential promotional events or media opportunities The competition is open to both high school seniors and post-secondary students planning to pursue a career in agriculture or related fields.
