Key Areas of Focus:
- NCD Prevention:
- The program is particularly focused on preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) among young people, with an emphasis on creating health policies that enable healthy lifestyles. This includes addressing key risk factors such as tobacco and alcohol control, nutrition, physical activity, and air quality improvement. The program seeks to provide equitable access to healthcare and health information, especially in low- and middle-income countries.
- Rare Disease Advocacy:
- Another crucial focus of the fellowship is advocating for equitable access to care and policy changes to benefit people living with rare diseases. This includes promoting awareness, influencing healthcare policies, and ensuring that treatment options are accessible and affordable for marginalized populations. Eligibility Criteria:
- Age: Applicants must be aged 18–30 years.
- Language: Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing).
- Nationalities: Open to all countries; candidates from low- and middle-income countries are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Leadership: Applicants must be founders or leaders of registered non-profit organisations that meet the following criteria:
- The organisation must have been operational for at least three years.
- Income: The organisation should have an annual income of USD $10,000 – $2,000,000 to be eligible for grants.
- Organisations should operate in underserved communities and focus on health equity, especially related to NCDs or rare diseases.
- Project Proposal: Applicants should propose a 6-12 month project that:
- Focuses on health policy change or NCD prevention among young people, or advocating for individuals living with rare diseases.
- Promotes inclusive health policies ensuring equal access to healthcare and health information for all.
- Is led by young people, for young people, with measurable impact.
- Fellowship Requirements:
- Full participation in the One Young World Summit (2-7 November 2025) in Munich, Germany.
- Ability to participate in online fellowship sessions and share insights with peers and mentors.
- Access to the internet and a device (computer, phone) for online activities.
Funding and Support:
- Grant Amounts:
- $10,000 grant for smaller projects with an annual income between USD $10,000 – $1,000,000.
- $50,000 grant for larger projects with an annual income between USD $100,000 – $2,000,000.
