The African Union Media Fellowship (AUMF) 2025–26 is a life-changing, 12-month development program designed to empower mid-senior African media professionals, journalists, and content creators to shape the continent’s narrative using cutting-edge digital technologies. Requirement/Eligibility
1. Must be an African media professional, journalist, or thematic content creator (blogger, vlogger, podcaster) working in Africa or diaspora .
2. Must have mid-senior-level experience in media creation or journalism .
3. Must be fluent in any of the six AU official languages (English, French, Arabic, Portuguese, Swahili…) .
4. Must commit to 12-month participation, including virtual and in-person trainings, study tours, and project completion .
5. Must guarantee availability to attend AU events, interviews, and workshops throughout the fellowship .
6. Employed journalists require a letter of endorsement from their editor, guaranteeing publication of their AU-themed output .
7. Freelancers/content creators need a reference letter to publish their AUMF stories .
8. Must hold a valid passport, and meet visa/travel requirements for the entire fellowship term .
9. Cannot be engaged in another full-time fellowship during AUMF tenure .
10. Must propose a pitch story aligned with Agenda 2063 thematic tracks, demonstrating capacity to contribute to Africa-focused journalism .
