Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassadors Network (CYPAN) 2025

The Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassadors Network (CYPAN) is a dynamic, youth-led platform that brings together passionate peacebuilders from across the 56 member countries of the Commonwealth to champion the cause of peace, counter violent extremism, and promote sustainable development through grassroots and policy-level engagement. As part of the Commonwealth Youth Programme, this network empowers young people between the ages of 15 and 29 to become agents of change, amplifying their voices and leadership in shaping peace-oriented solutions within their communities and beyond.

Established in response to the increasing global need for inclusive peace processes, CYPAN offers young people the opportunity to actively participate in peacebuilding efforts, emphasizing youth inclusion in conflict prevention, dialogue, reconciliation, and civic engagement. Through peer collaboration, knowledge exchange, training, advocacy, and action, the platform has become a globally recognized movement that supports youth-driven efforts aligned with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security.

CYPAN’s mission centers around five pillars: awareness, advocacy, capacity-building, policy engagement, and research. Members of the network are trained in peace education, digital diplomacy, conflict resolution, mediation, trauma awareness, and community resilience. These young ambassadors not only influence policies and lead community projects but also support national governments and international organizations in promoting peace strategies that are both youth-informed and inclusive.

The structure of the network is decentralized, meaning each country in the Commonwealth can develop and manage its own chapter under the guidance of the global CYPAN secretariat. These national and regional chapters conduct localized programming, including interfaith dialogues, anti-hate campaigns, counter-extremism initiatives, school outreach, and digital advocacy. Youth ambassadors serve as the focal points for peace in their communities and work closely with civil society, the private sector, and government institutions to drive change.

What distinguishes CYPAN from other youth movements is its strong connection to policymaking platforms. Members have the chance to participate in high-level engagements such as the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings (CHOGM), UN General Assembly side events, peace forums, and Commonwealth Youth Ministerial Meetings. CYPAN also works closely with Commonwealth-affiliated bodies, including the Commonwealth Youth Council, and offers ongoing mentoring, visibility, and professional growth for its members.

This opportunity is open to all eligible youth, particularly those from conflict-affected areas, underserved communities, and minority groups who are often excluded from decision-making spaces. The program encourages gender equity and welcomes applications from young women and non-binary individuals interested in transforming their communities through nonviolent solutions.

By becoming a Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassador, you join a family of over 1.5 billion young people dedicated to building a world rooted in justice, inclusion, and peace. You will receive training, access to global networks, and the support to implement your own projects while contributing to national and international strategies for peace. This is not only a platform to learn and connect—it is a global movement of action, equity, and resilience.
