The AWARD Leadership Program for Emerging African Women in Science is a tailor-made nine-month learning and development experience for women under 35 working in agricultural sciences across Sub-Saharan Africa. Funded by The Carnegie Corporation of New York (CCNY) and implemented by African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD), this program aims to equip young women scientists with leadership skills, career strategies, and the confidence to excel and innovate. Selected participants will gain skills in navigating gender dynamics, effective leadership, career development, personal branding, negotiation, and team management. The program also pairs participants with mentors to support their career growth.
It is an intensive, non-residential leadership and career development experience.
Participants receive comprehensive training in leadership, negotiation, career planning, personal branding, and organizational skills.

Requirements/ Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet all of the following to qualify: 1. Be 35 years old or younger at the time of application. 2. Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any agricultural science discipline from a recognized university. 3. Have a minimum of five years’ experience in the agricultural sector. 4. Be a citizen of one of the following countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, or Zambia. 5. Currently reside in Africa and be actively engaged in agriculture-related professional work. 6. Not currently be a Fellow or Laureate of any other AWARD fellowship programs.
