Requirement/Eligibility

To be eligible for the Beca Colombia 2024–2025, applicants must meet the following requirements:
1. Nationality
– Must be a citizen of a non-Spanish-speaking country.

– Must not be a Colombian national or dual citizen.

– The applicant’s country must have diplomatic relations with Colombia.

2. Age
– Applicants must be under 50 years old at the time of applying.

3. Academic Qualification
– Must have a university degree equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.

– The degree must be from an accredited institution in the applicant’s country of origin.

4. Academic Excellence
– Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 scale, or its equivalent.

– Transcripts and academic certificates must be officially recognized.

5. Language Proficiency
– Candidates must possess intermediate to advanced knowledge of Spanish, as courses are taught entirely in Spanish.

– Applicants may be required to demonstrate proficiency through certificates or interviews.

6. Admission Letter
Applicants must have admission or a conditional offer from a Colombian university for a postgraduate program (specialization, master’s, or PhD).

7. Motivation and Return Commitment
– Must show a strong commitment to return to their home country after completing their studies to apply the acquired knowledge for national development.

– A personal motivation letter and development impact statement are required.

8. Health and Legal Record
– Must be in good physical and mental health.

– No criminal record or affiliations with illegal organizations.

What the Scholarship Covers
The Beca Colombia scholarship is one of the most comprehensive scholarships offered in Latin America. Selected scholars receive:
1. Full tuition for the duration of the program.

2. Monthly living stipend (approximately COP 2,484,348/month).

3. Installation allowance for initial expenses upon arrival in Colombia.

4. Health insurance covering medical emergencies in Colombia.

5. Books and study materials allowance.

6. Visa processing fees reimbursement.

7. Spanish language support, where needed.

The scholarship typically lasts for the full duration of the academic program, which may vary depending on the degree (usually 1 year for specialization, 2 years for master’s, and up to 4 years for doctoral programs).
