Requirements/Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the IMF Economist Program, applicants should have recently completed or expect to complete their PhD within a year (or less) of joining the IMF. The program welcomes candidates from various fields, including macroeconomics, finance, public finance, monetary economics, international economics, and related areas. Applicants must demonstrate a sound understanding of macroeconomics and use conceptual frameworks to navigate complex economic sectors. In addition, candidates should possess an excellent academic record and proven analytical, quantitative, and IT skills. Nationals of IMF member countries are encouraged to apply, provided they will be below the age of 34 upon entry into the program on September 8, 2025. Strong written and oral English skills are also required.
