MCGILL UNIVERSITY MASTERCARD FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2025/2026

Applications are now open for the 2025/2026 McGill Mastercard Foundation Scholars Master’s Program. This fully funded master’s scholarship in Canada for African students offers a unique opportunity for talented leaders and changemakers from across Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at McGill University is designed to empower individuals who aspire to transform key sectors such as nutrition, public health, public policy, and sustainable agriculture across the African continent. Through this scholarship, African graduate students are provided the necessary tools, skills, and global exposure to address challenges in their home countries.

Requirements/ Eligibility Criteria
• Be admissible to one of the eligible master’s programs at McGill University.
• Have NEVER registered for, nor completed a master’s degree.
• Be a citizen of and live in a Sub-Saharan African country (view eligible countries).
• Have a valid passport and be admissible to Canada as an International Student (requiring a Study Permit). Those with dual citizenship, asylee, refugee, or permanent resident status in the US, Canada, UK, or EU are not eligible.
• Have an exceptional record of leadership development and community service in your school and/or community.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to public healthpublic policy, or sustainable agriculture and a desire to give back to your home community.
• Must be under the age of 35 at the time of application.
