Requirement/Eligibility
1. Applicants must be working on a non-fiction/documentary film currently in production or post-production. Fully completed films or those that have already screened publicly are ineligible.

2. The subject matter of the project must align with Mountainfilm’s mission, which emphasizes adventure, activism, environmental justice, cultural insight, social impact, or stories of the human spirit.
3. Applicants from any country are welcome to apply, with a particular emphasis on promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion behind the camera.
4. A video sample or trailer of the project is required as part of the application (maximum 10 minutes), preferably provided via a password-protected Vimeo link.
5. Applicants may not submit for a project that has already received funding through a previous Mountainfilm Commitment Grant.
6. If applicants previously applied and were not selected, they may only reapply with a substantially revised version of the proposal or a significantly advanced version of the project.
7. The application must be completed in full and submitted before the official deadline—Mountainfilm will not accept incomplete or late applications under any circumstances.
8. All funded projects must include Mountainfilm branding in the final credits and must agree to provide at least two progress reports annually throughout the remaining life cycle of the project.
9. Grantees should be open to screening the finished project at Mountainfilm Festival or during Mountainfilm on Tour, possibly including a Colorado or U.S. premiere.
10. Applications should be submitted in English and must demonstrate clear storytelling intent, creative vision, and impact potential to qualify.

The Mountainfilm Commitment Grant offers between $1,000 and $5,000 in direct funding per project. The exact amount awarded depends on project scope, needs, and alignment with Mountainfilm’s core values. Grants are non-repayable and are funded through a combination of Mountainfilm’s Filmmaker Fund, Borsecnik/Weil Family, and a donation in memory of Isabella de la Houssaye.
