Requirement/Eligibility
To qualify for this elite, zero-cost training, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Be a current editor, producer, or newsroom lead (print, TV, radio, or digital) working in a Nigerian-based media outlet.
2. Have a strong interest in solutions journalism and its application within your editorial processes.
3. Commit to mentoring at least one journalist in your newsroom in solutions journalism reporting after the masterclass.
4. Commit to supporting the publication of at least two solutions-focused stories (individually or collaboratively) following the training.
5. Be willing to attend in-person sessions in Lagos from July 28–30, 2025, and engage in follow-up virtual sessions.
6. Provide evidence of newsroom influence and decision-making power in content selection and editorial direction.
7. Submit a current CV or professional bio highlighting your editorial experience and current role.
8. Write a compelling cover letter (max 200 words) explaining your motivation and readiness to champion solutions journalism.
9. Provide a 100-word description of a social issue you’ve covered before and how it could benefit from a solutions journalism lens.
10. Submit a 100-word project idea for a collaborative, solutions-oriented story—preferably on a public health or social topic.
Duration/Stipend
The Nigeria Health Watch Solutions Journalism Masterclass 2.0 will take place over three days (July 28–30, 2025) at Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos. Participants will receive:
- Full sponsorship, including training materials, accommodation, meals, and travel costs.
- Certification from Pan-Atlantic University, recognized nationally and internationally.
- Ongoing editorial support and eligibility for post-training collaborative projects, grants, and mentorship.
