The Science-Policy Communication Fellowship 2025 is a capacity-building initiative designed to bridge the critical gap between scientific research and policy formulation in Nigeria’s health and development sectors. Spearheaded by Nigeria Health Watch, the fellowship targets early to mid-career professionals who are passionate about translating complex scientific evidence into practical, accessible language that can influence public health policies and programs.
As science and public health challenges become increasingly complex, the need for professionals who can effectively communicate evidence to policy-makers, the media, and the public has never been more urgent. This three-month hybrid fellowship provides structured training, mentorship, and practical exposure to enhance participants’ ability to drive change through impactful policy communication.
Fellows will participate in virtual learning modules, in-person sessions, and ongoing mentorship that focuses on the intersection of research, communication, and policy-making. The ultimate goal is to create a community of communicators and advocates who understand the importance of evidence-based policy and can influence the Nigerian health landscape in a sustainable way.
The Science-Policy Communication Fellowship 2025 is a unique opportunity for Nigerian professionals eager to amplify the voice of science in national policy discussions. In an era where misinformation and policy gaps threaten public health progress, the fellowship empowers participants to become trusted voices and catalysts for change.
By combining theoretical learning with practical experience, the program ensures that fellows are not only trained but also supported in executing real-world advocacy and communication initiatives. This is more than just a training program—it’s a platform to become part of a growing movement for evidence-informed decision-making in Nigeria.
