The Seeding the Future Global Food System Challenge 2024 is an incredible opportunity for innovators and organizations worldwide to transform the global food system with groundbreaking solutions.
This annual competition, hosted by the Institute of Food Technologists and funded by the Seeding the Future Foundation, provides up to $1 million in grants and awards for projects focused on sustainable food production, food security, and enhancing nutrition and healthy diet accessibility on a global scale.
By supporting innovations with high potential for environmental sustainability and long-term impact, the challenge seeks to empower change-makers who are dedicated to tackling pressing issues in the food industry.
This Global Food System Innovation Challenge includes three levels of funding to support ideas across different stages of development:
- Seed Grants ($25,000 each) are awarded to early-stage projects or prototypes that demonstrate high-potential innovation in healthy diets, sustainability, and food accessibility.
- Growth Grants ($100,000 each) are granted to teams or organizations that have proven the feasibility of their project and its potential for sustainable food system transformation at scale.
- Grand Prizes ($250,000 each) recognize established innovations with the potential to reshape the food system, providing scalable and sustainable solutions to make nutritious food accessible, affordable, and trusted by consumers worldwide.
The Challenge is open to non-profits, academic or research institutions, and early-stage for-profit companies in any country, encouraging a global effort to achieve greater social impact and food technology innovation. Applicants must submit a project proposal that outlines their solution for food system improvement, including a timeline, budget, and expected outcomes.
