Established in 1964, the African Development Bank (AfDB) is the premier pan-African development institution, promoting economic growth and social progress across the continent. The AfDB Internship program is an integral part of the Bank’s Talent Management framework, designed to attract young Africans to contribute to the Bank’s mission of advancing the High 5s—its priority goals for sustainable growth and development. The program provides internship opportunities for talented individuals from African countries and beyond.
As a participant in the AfDB graduate program, interns will gain valuable experience in a pan-African developmentenvironment, assisting with crucial projects aimed at accelerating economic development. The internship allows participants to work in diverse areas, providing them with hands-on exposure to career development opportunities within the African Development Bank.
The Bank’s internship program is competitive, with candidates selected based on the business needs of the African Development Bank. Participants will also have the chance to build lasting networks, which may lead to future recruitment by the institution.
Objectives of the Program: The broad objectives of the AfDB internship program are to:

Requirements/Eligibility Criteria:
- Must have attained the age of majority in their country of nationality and be no more than 30 years old at the time of commencement of the internship program.
- Be currently enrolled in a master’s level degree program or have obtained a degree within the last year from a recognized public or private educational institution.
- Be nationals of the member countries of the African Development Bank.
- Must be fluent in at least one of the Bank’s two working languages (English or French).
- Knowledge of standard software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); familiarity with SAP is desirable.
