The African Development Bank (AFDB) 2025 Internship Program

Applications are now open for the 2025 African Development Bank (AfDB) Internship Program.

Established in 1964, the African Development Bank (AfDB) is the premier pan-African development institution, promoting economic growth and social progress across the continent. The AfDB Internship program is an integral part of the Bank’s Talent Management framework, designed to attract young Africans to contribute to the Bank’s mission of advancing the High 5s—its priority goals for sustainable growth and development. The program provides internship opportunities for talented individuals from African countries and beyond.

As a participant in the AfDB graduate program, interns will gain valuable experience in a pan-African developmentenvironment, assisting with crucial projects aimed at accelerating economic development. The internship allows participants to work in diverse areas, providing them with hands-on exposure to career development opportunities within the African Development Bank.

The Bank’s internship program is competitive, with candidates selected based on the business needs of the African Development Bank. Participants will also have the chance to build lasting networks, which may lead to future recruitment by the institution.

Objectives of the Program: The broad objectives of the AfDB internship program are to:

  • Provide students with the opportunity to acquire professional and practical experience at the African Development Bank.
  • Offer the Bank a pool of potential candidates for future recruitment, fostering economic growth and social progress on the African continent.

While participants should not expect immediate employment following the program, the AfDB graduate program helps interns develop skills that enhance their career prospects in pan-African development fields.
