The Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, is excited to announce an open competition for organizations to submit applications to manage projects aimed at promoting U.S. higher education opportunities for high-achieving, low-income Nigerian students. This initiative is specifically designed to assist students applying for graduate and undergraduate programs through the EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program. By partnering with Standard Advising Centers in key Nigerian cities such as Calabar, Jos, Ibadan, and Kano, the program seeks to empower talented students with the resources necessary to succeed in applying to U.S. universities.
This education grants program is crucial in providing financial aid to Nigerian students by covering costs such as standardized test fees, visa fees, SEVIS fees, application fees, airfare, and settling-in expenses. These grants are designed to ensure that low-income Nigerian students with great potential can overcome the financial barriers to studying in the United States. Organizations that apply will work directly with the U.S. Embassy’s Education Specialists, who are dedicated to supporting this initiative and helping students navigate the often-complicated admissions process.
The EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program will play a key role in supporting forty (40) high-achieving Nigerian students each year. By providing financial support for their student visa applications, test fees, and other associated expenses, this program helps talented students achieve their dream of U.S. higher education. The partnership between U.S. Embassy Education Specialists and Standard Advising Centers will also include guidance on how to best present academic qualifications to U.S. universities and scholarships, significantly improving the chances of acceptance.
The US Embassy Education Grants cover multiple aspects of the student’s preparation for studying in the United States, including:
Standardized Test Fees: Assistance with paying for exams such as the GRE, TOEFL, or SAT.
Application Fees: Support for application submissions to U.S. universities.
Visa Fees: Financial assistance for obtaining the U.S. student visa (F-1).
Airfare: Assistance with travel costs to the United States.
SEVIS Fees: Covering the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System fee for international students.
Settling-In Expenses: Support for students as they transition to life in the U.S.

Have the capability to manage and execute projects in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy to help guide students through the application process and financial support for studying in the U.S.
Assist in the promotion of EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program, focusing on low-income students.
Work with Standard Advising Centers located in Calabar, Jos, Ibadan, and Kano to ensure effective outreach.
