The Government of Canada launched the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program in 2008 to enhance Canada’s ability to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and establish Canada as a global centre of excellence in research and higher learning. The Vanier CGS program offers competitive funding for doctoral research in the social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, engineering, and health. Vanier Scholars, who demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement, benefit from substantial financial support, making these scholarships ideal for both Canadian and international students pursuing their first doctoral degree.
Must be nominated by only one Canadian institution with a Vanier CGS quota.
Must be pursuing your first doctoral degree.
Must have completed no more than 20 months of full-time studies in your doctoral program by May 1, 2025.
Must have completed no more than 32 months of full-time study in your doctoral program.
