The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) is inviting young graduates and early-career professionals in Nigeria, Senegal, and Cape Verde to apply for its Next Generation Internship Programme (NGIP). This fully funded internship aims to develop the next generation of African leaders by providing hands-on experience in WACSI’s core areas of capacity development, policy influencing, and advocacy training. Interns will actively participate in WACSI’s activities, enhancing their civic awareness and professional skills to address critical development issues in West Africa.
Since its inception in January 2008, the NGIP has aimed to equip young West Africans, either fresh graduates or early career professionals, with essential skills in non-profit management and knowledge management. Interns are expected to commit to WACSI for six months, during which time they will be fully involved in all activities, enhancing their knowledge and capacities for leadership and critical development issues in the region.
- This is a fully funded internship program by WACSI. The institute will support interns with a flight to and from their home country, furnished accommodation, lunch during working days, and a monthly stipend.
Please note:
- Preference will be given to applicants with high proficiency in English, French, or Portuguese and a working knowledge of one other language.
- The successful intern will spend a substantial part of their internship working at the WACSI office in Accra, Ghana.
- The internship period is from January to June 2025. Interns unable to complete the six-month internship will be required to refund the total cost of the internship package to WACSI.

- WACSI seeks interns from Nigeria, Senegal, and Cape Verde interested in enhancing their civic consciousness and developing their professional capacity. They will be embedded in WACSI’s core areas of work, including capacity development, policy influencing, and advocacy.
- Applicants must have a minimum of a first degree in international affairs, political science, public policy, development studies, or related fields.
- Applicants should also show an interest in civil society and non-profit organization management.
