Discover why this urgent, time-sensitive, and transformational opportunity is a game-changer for science journalists. GlobalDev, an initiative by the Global Development Network (GDN), is offering a fully funded package—including return travel, accommodation, and exclusive access—to the Global Development Conference 2025 (GDC‑2025) in Clermont‑Ferrand, France, from 28–30 October 2025. This three-day event themed “Inclusive Digital Transformation: Social Impacts and Technological Innovations” brings together researchers, policymakers, development practitioners, and journalists under one roof. Selected journalists will take part in capacity-building workshops, gain insider access to sessions, co-design media-research training programmes, and publish at least two pieces covering global development through a digital lens. This is a last chance, final call for applications before the 27 July 2025 deadline—when this exclusive deal ends.
In an age where digital transformation shapes global development outcomes, media practitioners have a critical role—but often lack platforms. This is why the Global Development Network (GDN), through its GlobalDev initiative, is offering a fully funded opportunity for science journalists to engage deeply with GDC‑2025 in Clermont‑Ferrand.
Selected journalists receive return travel, accommodation, and full access to the conference’s plenaries, panels, and networking forums—free of charge. This eliminates financial barriers and ensures you can fully immerse in the event’s ethos.
The theme, “Inclusive Digital Transformation: Social Impacts and Technological Innovations,” challenges journalists to dissect and tell stories about how technology shapes societies, economies, and equity. It’s a must-see moment in global narratives.
Prior to the conference, attendees receive hands-on training to refine science communication, storytelling, and research journalism skills. These sessions empower journalists to craft compelling narratives rooted in evidence and policy relevance.
You’ll join an international gathering of influencers—researchers, policymakers, funders, and academics. The relationships built here often lead to follow-up features, investigative opportunities, and elevated visibility.
Selected journalists must produce at least two substantial pieces—ranging from articles to multimedia stories—amplifying discourse on digital development. Your work will reach GDN’s wide audience, enhancing your professional footprint.
This initiative is tailored to women, LMIC-based journalists, and those from underrepresented communities, ensuring diverse and inclusive journalism perspectives are amplified.
Selected participants will help shape future training programmes that bridge academic research and media output: an insider experience and an opportunity to influence the media landscape. Adding GDC‑2025 coverage to your portfolio signals global exposure, enhanced capacity, and networked credibility—qualities that set you apart in grant applications, editorial pitches, and future funding bids.
