To clear the threshold for the October 1, 2026 selection, candidates needed an active Express Entry profile registered prior to 12:47:55 Universal Coordinated Time (UTC). Applicants sitting at the exact minimum CRS score of 476 faced a stricter tie-breaking rule, requiring their profiles to have been established on or before May 28, 2026, at 16:55:23 UTC.
Foreign nationals currently inside the country who have already submitted permanent residence applications through Express Entry can leverage the Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) to sustain their employment authorization. If an applicant’s existing work permit expires before IRCC finalizes a decision on the BOWP, maintained status preserves their current work conditions, provided they continue residing in Canada. Qualifying family members are also eligible to apply for open work permits under the provisions.
