1. Applicants must hold a PhD and have at least two years of post-doctoral research experience at the time of the application deadline.

3. Candidates must not have resided or worked in France for more than 12 months during the three years prior to the application deadline.
4. Applicants must not be affiliated with a French research institution at the time of the application.
5. The proposed research project must be original, high-quality, and demonstrate a capacity to engage with other disciplines and international issues.
6. Projects must be conducted independently, though fellows are encouraged to collaborate with local institutions where possible.

8. For applicants targeting Montpellier or Paris, a letter of support from a host laboratory or partner institution is mandatory.
9. All application materials must be submitted in English, regardless of the preferred host institution.

Duration/Stipend
The FIAS Fellowship 2026–2027 spans 10 consecutive months, running from September/October 2026 through June/July 2027. Selected fellows will enjoy a comprehensive support package that includes:
- A monthly net stipend of €2,200, delivered as salary or paid leave.
- A €2,500 annual research and training budget for use on conferences, travel, publication fees, software, and workshops.
- A round-trip airfare from your home country to the host institution in France.
- Relocation assistance and accommodation support, arranged in coordination with the host IAS.
