Requirements/Eligibility Criteria
Open to state or local authority-maintained schools as well as fee-paying, private, or independent institutions.
Welcomes specialist focus campuses, including faith schools, special schools, and institutions with specific admissions criteria.
The applying school must not be prohibited from participating in the contest or receiving the prize under its local laws.
Must not be insolvent, bankrupt, placed into receivership, administration, or liquidation under local laws.
Must not have conducted itself in a way that brings the educational profession, the Varkey Foundation, or any GEMS Education group company into disrepute.
Prize Breakdown and Benefits
Ten category winners will be selected from the longlist, with each receiving US$50,000.
One overall winner will take home the main Global Schools Prize along with US$500,000 to scale its impact.
Longlisted schools will receive a Global Schools Prize Badge and exclusive access to the Global Schools Network for global collaboration and professional development.
