IDM-Africa Fellowship Programme 2027 for African Scientists
Brief Description
Applications are open for the IDM-Africa Fellowship Programme 2027, a 12-month initiative tailored for early- and mid-career scientists in sub-Saharan Africa. The fellowship provides structured mentorship to help researchers who have foundational training and practical experience develop an applied, policy-relevant modelling project using their own data. If you are looking to advance your career through an infectious disease modelling fellowship Africa opportunity, this scheme combines a one-month in-person placement at a regional training centre with eleven months of remote mentorship supported by expert modellers from partner health institutions. You will work on validating predictive models, authoring peer-reviewed journal manuscripts, and producing policy briefs to directly inform public health decisions across the continent. This program is coordinated by the Makerere University IDI fellowship network alongside international research partners.
Name of Host Institution
IDM-Africa, coordinated by The Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) at Makerere University, in partnership with the University of Sciences, Techniques and Technologies of Bamako (USTTB), Amsterdam University Medical Center (UMC), ACE-Uganda, ACE-B, and the Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development (AIGHD).
