The Secretariat of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) has officially opened submissions for the SADC Media Awards 2027. Established in 1996, this premier journalism competition Southern Africa highlights outstanding media work that drives public understanding of the regional integration agenda. Requirements/Eligibility Criteria

Open exclusively to journalists from all SADC Member States.
Submissions must fall into one of four distinct categories: Print Journalism, Radio Journalism, Television Journalism, or Photojournalism.
Print Journalism entries must comprise features or articles ranging from a minimum of 100 words to a maximum of 2,000 words.
Radio Journalism broadcast material must run for a minimum duration of 1 minute and a maximum of 30 minutes, submitted on a CD or USB alongside an electronic transcript in Word format.
Television Journalism broadcast material must run for a minimum duration of 1 minute and a maximum of 45 minutes, submitted on a CD or USB with an electronic transcript in Word format.
Photojournalism entries must feature 1 photo or a pictorial spread of not more than 20 photos published in a single issue, accompanied by the original newspaper.

Prizes and Recognition

The first prize winner in each of the four categories will receive US$2,500.
The runner-up in each of the four categories will receive US$1,000.
All winners will be officially announced during the Opening Ceremony of the 47th SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government in the Republic of Zambia.

Deadline

All entries must be submitted to the National Adjudication Committee no later than February 28, 2027.
