Have you ever dreamed of immersing yourself in Oman’s breathtaking landscapes while pursuing your artistic or cultural career but hesitated because you didn’t want to leave your family behind?
Well, here’s breaking news that will make your dream a reality: Oman Cultural Visa extends to include spouses and first-degree relatives of foreign professionals working in arts, culture, and creative industries.
This exciting update, announced under Royal Oman Police Decision No. 156/2025, marks a bold step toward making Oman a true hub for global creativity and cultural exchange. It means you can now live, work, and create in Oman with your loved ones by your side — an opportunity that many expatriates have been waiting for.
Let’s dive into what this change means, who’s eligible, and how you can get started.

What Is Oman’s Cultural Visa?
Oman’s Cultural Visa was first introduced as part of its broader plan to attract global talent in arts, heritage, literature, and creative sectors. It allows foreign professionals to live and work in the Sultanate to support cultural development projects.
However, until recently, the visa only covered the individual artist or cultural professional — meaning families had to stay behind or apply under entirely different visa classes.
That’s now changed.
Under the new amendment to the Foreigners’ Residence Law, the Cultural Visa has been enhanced with the following new categories:
1. Cultural Visa – for the main applicant (artists, researchers, cultural professionals).
2. Cultural Residency Permit – for long-term stays (1, 5, or 10 years).
3. Joining Visa – for the spouse and first-degree relatives of the main visa holder.
4. Joining Residency Permit – allowing family members to reside legally in Oman for the same duration.
This means that families can now live together in Oman under one cultural residency umbrella, a major boost to the Sultanate’s commitment to cultural inclusivity.
