Who Qualifies Under the Initiative
The TRHSI targets foreign nationals holding a regular, indeterminate, full-time position with a B.C. public health authority in specific operational roles. Eligible occupations include janitors, caretakers, and heavy-duty cleaners (NOC 65312), light-duty cleaners (NOC 65310), and security guards and related security service occupations (NOC 64410).
Applicants must complete at least nine months of continuous full-time employment in their qualifying occupation with the same employer and in the same region prior to registering. Certain periods do not count toward this nine-month threshold, including work completed on a study permit, such as co-op placements, or any leave exceeding two weeks.
Job offers located within the Central Okanagan Regional District, the Metro Vancouver Regional District, and the Capital Regional District do not qualify for the initiative. Specific island exceptions apply within the Capital Regional District, including Galiano Island, Mayne Island, Pender Island, Salt Spring Island, and Saturna Island.
