Requirements/Eligibility Criteria
You must self-identify as being from a Black heritage, including a mixed Black background.
You need to be a UK national, or have completed part of your education in the UK through your Undergraduate, Master’s, or PhD degree studies, or hold/have held a postdoctoral researcher position in the UK.
You must hold a PhD, or expect to have one by the time the funding starts, with less than 24 months of post-doctoral experience.
Your proposed research must fall within the Royal Society’s remit of natural sciences, which includes biological and biomedical sciences, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, and physics.
Applicants can be of any nationality, and those requiring a visa are eligible to apply for a Global Talent Visa under a fast-track endorsement process.
Funding and Financial Support
You can apply for up to £703,800 over four years. This funding covers a contribution to your salary and associated on-costs at 80 percent, directly allocated costs at 80 percent, and research expenses at 100 percent. Additionally, relocation and visa costs for yourself and your dependants, including your partner and children, can be requested on top of the total grant cap.
